		<description>Yes - encaustic is wax, which is applied hot in liquid form and then cools to create a layer of wax, which in this case protects the clover and butterfly wings and the drawings.  Aside from being susceptible to scratching, heat, or ice cold, the encaustic is pretty much permanent.</description>
